Messiah J & The Expert present ‘From The Word Go’. This latest long-player, their second record in a row to be nominated for the Choice Music Prize (Irish album of the year), sees them explore new lyrical and musical territories. Musically, the album draws from funk and psychedelic, indie and electronic, reggae and soul. Lyrically, the album muses on everyday concerns to the backdrop of the confused world that we live in right now.


Guest artists include Kieran & Ro from Delorentos, Leda Egri and long-time collaborator, Joanne Daly, as well as mighty contributions from gifted string and brass sections. The album was mastered in London by Guy Davie (Bjork, Foals, Neon Neon).

‘Turn The Magic On’ is the second single to be taken from the album and will be released on February 20th as a digital download.



Messiah J & The Expert are a two-piece band that have released three albums since 2003. They have supported the likes of Public Enemy, The Streets, Ghostface Killah, Aesop Rock and Xzibit, amongst many others. Their influences include everyone from The Zombies to Motown to Edan to The Smiths to Aphex Twin to Parliament. They won Best Dance Act in the Hot Press Readers Poll several times, as well as being twice nominated for the Meteor Awards (2002/2008) and for The Choice Music Prize (2006/2008). Steve Lamacq has been a long-time champion of the band and personally paid for them to come over for a session in BBC1.
